Podcast Graveyard is the show that delves into the long lost and forgotten shows to find out how they died and meet the ghosts that once brought them to life.
I’m James Bishop, founder and CEO of OneFinePlay, a podcast production and tech company. For five years I have been in the business of podcasting and I’ve watched the medium grow into a global powerhouse.
I’ve made hundreds of shows for all sorts of people - celebrities to hobbyists and everyone in between.
I’ve made shows that have gotten millions of downloads worldwide and gone to no.1.
And I’ve made shows that never fully got off the ground.
But what I’ve realised is that the hardest part of being a podcaster isn’t starting - its continuing.
There are 2.5 million shows on apple podcasts. But almost half of those only three episodes to their name and, in the end, over 90% of podcasts never release more than just seven episodes.
I want to know more about these lost shows. Who made them, why their creators started podcasting and what went wrong.
To find out more about the mistakes and obstacles all of us can encounter on the journey of making a podcast.
So that I can share learnings with you and hopefully find ways all of us as creators can ensure our podcasts live longer and healthier lives.
Who knows, maybe we’ll even find shows that need to be brought back from the dead.
